Well...well...well
Here I am back on the blog train! As you may (or may not) have noticed my last post was in 2008! Clearly this has been something that has been 'stewing' for quite some time. Over the past two years I have been no less committed to food and all its splendor, which is perhaps why my writing fell by the wayside.
But fear not...I am making a come back! And by comeback I don't mean some feeble attempt at fame like those 40 something year old professional athletes who are attempting to make one last shot for glory. I am making an honest to goodness comeback!
My commitment to you is this...When I have something to say I will say it, and when I don't I won't fill these pages with none sense just because I have a forum. There have been many times I have sat down to try and re-commit to writing, but have been left staring down a blank page. However, there have been many times I have found myself totally inspired by food and all its powers and those are the times I will write...promise! Sometimes there will be recipes, sometimes restaurant reviews and sometimes deep cosmic thoughts on what we eat and why. So to those who read my one lowly post two years ago welcome back and to all those who are new to this blog train welcome aboard! Wootwoot!

Split Pea Soup
So, because it's officially winter time now, it's definately soup time! I was just out for a walk with Maggie and it is some cold out there! So warm yourself up with a home made soup. It's a piece of cake really.
First you need: 2 cups dried yellow peas
8 cups water or vegetable stock
1 small onion small diced (brunoise for the culinary crew)
1 bay leaf
salt and pepper to taste
4 tsp olive oil
Second you need to: 1) Dice the onion
2) Heat a 3 L or bigger pot at medium heat
3) Saute onion in the oil until translucent stirring
occasionally
4) Rinse the peas thoroughly and add them to the
onions along with the stock or water (cold water
please!), and bay leaf
5) Give the peas and stock a stir and bring to a boil
6) Reduce heat and let simmer on medium-low heat
until the peas are as soft as mush. Season with
salt and pepper as you go.
7) When you're satisfied with the mushy consistency
of your peas, remove the bay leaf, and take a
hand blender and blitz up your soup until it's
smooth.
8) Re-heat, check the seasonings and enjoy!
9) As an added bonus, we always love to add
chunks of smoked salmon to this soup!!
This recipe probably serves 6 or 7 bowls depending on the size of your serving.

Starting Out
Hi all...For now I think I have started this blog mainly for myself!! I find that I always have something food related on my mind and this forum lets me spill it out. I hope to include recipes that friends and family have asked for and some random thoughts, quotes and tips about food. I can't promise I will keep it super up to date, but will do my best. If anyone has any feedback on the recipes or have had success with some adjustments please pass along your secrets. Till next time.
BON APPETIT!
